Epiphytes on pine needles, forming small blackened areas. Sexual state: Thyriothecia-like fruiting bodies 109–191 high×78–94 diam μm (x = 85×146μm, n=5), linear on the host surface, superficial, scattered to gregarious, dark brown to black, carbonaceous, opening by a sunken, longitudinal or Y-shaped slit. Peridium 10– 23.7μm wide, thinner at the base, the crushed peridium comprising condensed hyphae. Hamathecium comprising numerous, 1.1–1.9 μm wide, f i liform, flexuose pseudoparaphyses. Asci 37–43×7.9–11.5μm (x = 41.31× 9.62μm, n=10), 8-spored, bitunicate, cylindric-clavate to clavate, with short, broad, rounded pedicel, apically rounded, with a distinct ocular chamber. Ascospores 10–12×4.5– 6μm (x= 10.8×5μm, n=5), 2–3-seriate, partially overlapping, ellipsoid to fusiform or ovoid, with rounded ends, laterally compressed, hyaline, slightly constricted at the septum, with a mucilage appendage at each end, verrucose to smooth-walled.
