Tatraea is a saprobic genus placed in Helotiaceae (Helotiales, Leotiomycetes). The type species of the genus is Helotium dumbirense. The genus is characterized by obconical, larger, dark grey to brownish-grey apothecia, tapered, wrinkled stipe, amyloid asci, and reniform, hyaline ascospores with guttules. Besides, Tatraea tends to be saprophytic on the dead wood of hard, deciduous trees, rarely conifers (Svrček 1992, Perić 2013).
