Notes   –   Sporophagomyces   species   are   fungicolous,   associated   with   aphyllophorous basidiomycetes (Põldmaa et al. 2000). The genus is characterised by buff to yellow, obypyriform ascomata, cylindrical asci with or without thickened apices and (0-) or 1-septate fusiform to naviculate or lanceolate ascospores (Põldmaa et al. 2000). Asexual morphs are acremonium-like, comprising simple conidiogenous cells immersed directly on mycelial hyphae, bearing 3-septate conidia (Põldmaa et al. 2000).
