Pseudocoleodictyospora thailandica Doilom, D.J. Bhat & K.D. Hyde, sp. nov. Index Fungorum number: IF551970

Etymology: Name refers to the country from which the fungus was collected.

Holotype: MFLU 15–3533 Saprobic on bark of living T. grandis. Sexual morph: Undetermined. Asexual morph: Colonies on natural substrate, punctiform, sporodochial, superficial, gregarious, scattered, black. Hyphae pale brown to brown, septate, slightly constricted at the septa. Conidiophores up to 7 μm long, 1.5–2.5 μm wide, micronematous, erect to slightly curved, septate, constricted at the septa, arising from hyphae. Conidiogenous cells blastic, integrated, terminal, determinate. Conidia (18–)38–40(−46) × (14–)22–24(−35) μm (x = 37 × 22 μm, n = 50), dictyosporous, bulbil-like, muriform, initially subglobose, becoming ellipsoidal to irregular and pale brown when immature, becoming brown to dark brown, horizontal on conidiogenous cell, very variable in size and shape.

Culture characteristics: Conidia germinating on PDA within 24 h. Germ tubes produced around conidia. Colonies on MEA reaching 12–16 mm diam. after 7 days in the dark at 25 °C (x = 14.2 mm, n = 5), circular, edge entire, raised, fluffy, dense, convex or dome-shaped with papillate surface, to superficial at the center, flat or effuse at the edge, greyish brown (7F3) from above, brownish grey (7F2) from below.

Habitat: Known to inhabit bark of living T. grandis (current study).

Known distribution: Thailand (current study).

Material examined: THAILAND, Chiang Rai Province, Muang District, Mae Khon Subdistrict, bark of living T. grandis, 8 September 2012, M. Doilom, (MFLU 15– 3533, holotype), ex-type living culture MFLUCC 12–0565, MKT 081, ICMP, GenBank Accession No: ITS: KU712441, LSU: KU764701, RPB2: KU712494, SSU: KU712472.

Notes: The conidia of Ps. thailandica are shorter and narrower than Ps. tectonae and Ps. sukhothaiensis. The polymorphic nucleotide sequence data of ITS and RPB2 also support the morphological differences between Ps.thailandica and both Ps. tectonae and Ps. sukhothaiensis.
