Type species – Madurella mycetomatis (Laveran) Brumpt
Notes – Madurella was introduced by Brumpt (1905) to accommodate the species Streptothrix mycetomatis. Madurella species are the causative agents of mycetoma in humans worldwide (Findlay et al. 1979, Mukerji & Manoharachary 2010, de Hoog et al. 2012, Bolis et al. 2018, Norina et al. 2018, Mekoguem et al. 2019). The genus is characterised by asexual morphs with slow-growing, white to brown colonies, hyphae producing chlamydospores, and conidiophores and conidia have not been observed (Seifert et al. 2011).
