Type species – Lamproconium desmazieri (Berk. & Broome) Grove
Notes – Lamproconium was introduced by Grove (1918) as a section of Melanconium which was represented by M. desmazieri. Melanconium desmazieri was reported as the asexual morph of Melanconis desmazieri, from Tilia sp. (Petrak 1938). Grove (1937) re-circumscribed the species and found that M. desmazieri differed from the type species in having bluish to glistening dark blue, not brownish-black, 1-septate conidia. Therefore, Grove (1937) introduced Lamproconium as a new genus (Sutton 1980) and it was placed in Diaporthales genera incertae sedis by Cannon & Minter (2014). Based on phylogenetic study and fresh collections of L. desmazieri (Norphanphoun et al. 2016) introduced Lamproconiaceae as new family for accommodate Lamproconium and Hescospora.
