Arthrobotrys zhaoyangensis F. Zhang, X.Y. Yang & K. D. Hyde, sp. nov. FIGURE 6.

MycoBank number: MB; Index Fungorum number: IF; Facesoffungi number: FoF 10765;

Etymology: The species name “zhaoyangensis” refers to the name of sample collection site: Zhaoyang county, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province, China.

Description: Colonies on PDA white, cottony, growing rapidly, reaching a diameter of 48 mm after 10 days incubation at 27°C. Mycelium colourless, composed of septate, branched, smooth hyphae. Conidiophores hyaline, erect, septate, unbranched, bearing a single holoblastic conidium at apex, 207–498 µm (x̅ = 316.5 µm, n = 50) long, 3–9.5 µm (x̅ = 5.9 µm, n = 50) wide at base, gradually tapering upwards to 2–4 µm (x̅ = 2.6 µm, n = 50) wide at apex. Conidia hyaline, smooth, subfusiform or obpyriform, with largest cell located at the central or above the median half of conidia, 1–4-septate, mostly 3-septate (with 2 septa at base and one at apex of conidia), broadly rounded at apex, truncate at base, 25.5–52 × 14–32 µm (x̅ = 35.4 × 22.9 μm, n = 50). Chlamydospores hyaline, smooth, cylindrical, globose or ellipsoidal, in chains, 12.5–31.5 × 6.6–12.5 µm (x̅ = 19.2 × 9.4 μm, n = 50). Capturing nematodes with adhesive network.

Material examined: CHINA, Yunnan Province, Zhaotong City, Zhaoyang county, from freshwater sediment, 14 April 2015, F. Zhang (DLUCC20, holotype!).

Sequence data: ITS:OM855568
