Type species – Subramaniula thielavioides (Arx, Mukerji & N. Singh) Arx
Notes – Subramaniula was introduced by von Arx (1985) to accommodate Achaetomium thielavioides. The study of Ahmed et al. (2016) indicated a relationship of Subramaniula within Chaetomiaceae. Phylogenetic analyses of Wang et al. (2016a) confirmed the placement and expanded the number of species. The genus is characterised by ascomata that are globose and glabrous without necks, with translucent walls and a wide ostiole surrounded by a hyaline collar. Asci are clavate, short pedicellate, very thin-walled, evanescent, and ascospores are widely fusiform, brownish, thick-walled and 1-celled, with a conspicuous subapical germ pore (von Arx et al. 1978, Wang et al. 2016a). The asexual morph is undetermined.
