NotesEscovopsis, typified by E. weberi was introduced by Muchovej & Della Lucia (1990) to replace Phialocladus (1972). Taxa are mycoparasites found only from the fungus gardens of attine ants (Reynolds & Currie 2004, Augustin et al. 2013, Montoya et al. 2019). The genus is characterized by conidiophores with or without terminal variously-shaped vesicles and synchronous or sympodial conidiogenesis with pigmented conidia occuring in chains (Muchovej & Della Lucia 1990, Montoya et al. 2019). No sexual morph is linked to this genus.
