Notes: The type species Cycloschizon brachylaenae was collected on living leaves of Brachylaena neriifolia from South Africa. Index Fungorum (2019) lists 14 species, whereas Inácio and Cannon (2008) compared 12 taxa by their hosts, distributions and main morphological characters. Cycloschizon is characterized by clustered, superficial, black, circular, flat ascomata opening by one circumferential, producing broadly clavate to subglobose, thick-walled asci and ellipsoidal ascospores with one septum (Inácio and Cannon 2008).
