Notes – Boremia differs from the other genera in Didymellaceae based on morphology of the ostiole. They develop smoothly lined ostiole, and have distinct hyaline cells lining their ostiolar openings. In addition, these species develop fewer conidia in culture than on the host (Aveskamp et 2010). There are 21 species associated with this genus and phylogenetically distinct varieties have been identified for Boeremia exigua.
