Pseudocoleodictyospora tectonae Doilom, D.J. Bhat & K.D. Hyde, sp. nov. Index Fungorum number: IF551969
Etymology: Name refers to the host genus Tectona.
Holotype: MFLU 15–3527
Saprobic on dead bark of T. grandis. Sexual morph: Undetermined. Asexual morph: Colonies on natural substrate, punctiform, sporodochial, superficial, gregarious, scattered, numerous, black. Hyphae partly superficial and partly immersed, pale brown to brown, septate, slightly constricted at the septa. Conidiophores up to 20μm long, 2.5–4 μm wide, micronematous, septate, hyaline, constricted at the septa, arising from hyphae. Conidiogenous cells blastic, integrated, terminal, determinate. Conidia (37–)45–50(−55) × (22–)27–29(−37) μm (x = 46 × 28 μm, n = 30), dictyosporous, bulbil-like, muriform, initially hyaline, becoming brown to golden brown when mature, horizontal on conidiogenous cell, verrucose, slightly constricted at the septa, subglobose to ellipsoidal.
Culture characteristics: Conidia germinating on PDA within 24 h. Germ tubes produced around conidia. Colonies on MEA reaching 9–15 mm diam. after 7 days in the dark at 25 °C (x = 14.2 mm, n= 5), edge entire to undulate, flat or effuse at the edge, raised to superficial at the center, dense, fluffy, brownish grey (6E2) from above, brownish grey (7F2) from below
Habitat: Known to inhabit dead bark of T. grandis (current study).
Known distribution: Thailand (current study).
Material examined: THAILAND, Chiang Rai Province, Mae Chan District, on dead bark of T. grandis, 1 July 2012, M. Doilom, (MFLU 15–3527, holotype), ex-type living culture MFLUCC 12–0385, MKT 058, ICMP, GenBank Accession No: ITS: KU712443, LSU: KU764709, RPB2: KU712491, SSU: KU712461; ibid. Notes: Conidiophores of Ps. tectonae are longer than Ps. sukhothaiensis and Ps. thailandica. Its conidia are longer and wider than both Ps. sukhothaiensis and Ps. thailandica
