Halokirschsteiniothelia Boonmee & K.D. Hyde, Mycologia 104(3): 705 (2012)
Notes – Halokirschsteiniothelia was introduced by Boonmee et al. (2012) to accommodate a previously documented species Kirschsteiniothelia maritima, and they placed the genus in Mytilinidiaceae based on phylogenetic analyses. Halokirschsteiniothelia is characterized by erumpent to superficial ascomata with a small papillate ostiole, clavate asci with a small ocular chamber, and ellipsoidal, pale brown, 1-septate ascospores (Boonmee et al. 2012). In this study, we introduce a new species H. hunanensis, isolated from submerged wood in Hunan Province, China.
