Notes – Gyalidea is a cosmopolitan genus with about 60 saxicolous, corticolous, bryophilous or terricolous species, mainly distributed in tropical and subtropical regions. It is characterized by a crustose thallus, zeorine apothecia, with mostly well-developed thalline margin, non-amyloid hymenium composed of simple to sparsely branched and anastomosed paraphyses, cylindrical to clavate, thin-walled asci with thickened apical tholus, and a small ocular chamber, and hyaline transversely septate or submuriform to muriform ascospores (e.g., Vezda 1966; Vezda and Poelt 1991; Etayo and Vezda 1994; Harada and Vezda 1996; Aptroot and Lücking 2003; Nordin et al. 2007; Lumbsch et al. 2009; Svensson 2012; Harada and Sakata 2016; Kondratyuk et al. 2019; McCarthy 2020, 2021).
