Parasitic on Picea. Ascomata solitary, immersed, visible as dark brown to black tiny spots on host surface, globose to subglobose, dark brown to black, solitary to gregarious, scattered, centrally ostiolate. Ostiole apex with or without papilla, ostiolar canal filled with periphyses Peridium 2-layered, outer layer comprising dark brown cell of textura angularis or textura prismatica inner layer comprising hyaline cell of textura angularis. Hamathecium composed of numerous, filiform, branching, broadly cellular pseudoparaphyses, anastomosing and embedded in mucilaginous matrix. Asci 8-spored, bitunicate, fissitunicate, cylindric-clavate, pedicellate to subsessile, apically rounded with a well-developed ocular chamber, arising from the basal ascomata. Ascospores overlapping, 1–2-seriate, didymosporous, ellipsoidal to broadly fusiform, initially hyaline, becoming brown to dark brown at maturity, 1-septate, constrict at the septum, wall smooth to rough, with small guttules, thick-walled, with a distinct mucilaginous sheath.
