≡ Morenoella linearis Syd. & P. Syd., Annls mycol. 15(3/4): 250 (1917)
Type: Original material not located.

Epiphytes on surface of leaves. Superficial hyphae radiating from the margins of the thyriothecia, lacking appressoria. Sexual state: Thyriothecia 223–342×95–108μm wide (x = 324×103μm, n=10), superficial, scattered or gregarious, black, with a longitudinal slit. Peridium relatively wide (up to 22μm thick) and hard to distinguish. Hamathecium of 2– 2.5μm wide, hyaline pseudoparaphyses. Asci 28–42×15– 25μm (x = 35×19μm, n=10), 8-spored, bitunicate, fissitunicate dehiscence not observed, subglobose to clavate, apedicellate, or with a short papilla-like pedicel, thickened at the apex, with an ocular chamber. Ascospores 14–16×6–8μm (x = 15×7μm, n=20), overlapping 2–4-seriate, conglobate, hyaline when immature, becoming brown to reddish-brown at maturity, with rounded ends, 1-septate, strongly constricted at the central septum. Asexual state: Unknown.

Material examined: DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, Punta Teacos, on Dalbergia ecastophyllum (L.) Taub. (Fabaceae), 28 July 1930, E.L. Ekman, determined by M.L. Farr (BPI 652997).

Notes: We have been unable to locate the type of this species which is not at S or BPI.We therefore used a specimen from BPI that was determined by M.L. Farr to be this species.
