Diaporthe mangiferae A.L. Jia & X.L. Fan, in Cao et al., Fungal Diversity 132: 475 (2025)
Index Fungorum number: IF 571935; MycoBank number: MB 571935; Facesoffungi number: FoF 17099; Fig. 1
Etymology – named after the host genus on which it was collected, Mangifera indica.
Holotype – CFCC 70614.
Description – Culture sterile. On PDA, hyphae septate. Colonies covering the Petri dish after 7 d at 25 °C. Cultures on PDA initially white, growing fast up to cover the 5.5 cm Petri dish after 3 d. Colonies flat with a uniform texture, lacking aerial mycelium, entirely covering the 6 cm Petri dish after 7 d, becoming buff after 14 d. Colony margin regular. Conidiomata not observed on medium surface after 30 d.
Materials examined – CHINA, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Baise City, isolated from fruits of Mangifera indica, Aug. 2022, living culture CFCC 70614 (holotype), living cultures CFCC 70617 and CFCC 70618.
GenBank – CFCC 70614: PP741458 (ITS), PP741962 (cal), PP741967 (his3), PP741972 (tef1), PP741977 (tub2); CFCC 70617: PP741459 (ITS), PP741963 (cal), PP741968 (his3), PP741973 (tef1), PP741978 (tub2); CFCC 70618: PP741460 (ITS), PP741964 (cal), PP741969 (his3), PP741974 (tef1), PP741979 (tub2); Supplementary data, Online Resource 2.
Notes – Diaporthe mangiferae was isolated from fruits of Mangifera indica with symptoms in China. The three isolates are phylogenetically separated from all other available isolates included in this study (Supplementary data, Online Resource 1). The clear multi-gene phylogram place it in a distinct clade with high support (ML/BI = 100/1). Therefore, the current three isolates (CFCC 70614, 70,617 and 70,618) are identified as a new species, D. mangiferae.
