Catabotrydaceae (Petrak 1954, Barr 1990) accommodates only Catabotrys (Theissen & Sydow 1915) which comprise of two species C. chandrapurensis and the type species C. deciduum. The family is characterized by pulvinate, superficial stromata on substrates, long ostiolar ascomata embedded in stromatic columns, and hyaline, 1-celled, ellipsoidal ascospores (Seaver & Waterston 1946, Barr 1990). The taxonomic and phylogenetic placement of this family was detailed in Maharachchikumbura et al. (2015, 2016) and Hyde et al. (2020a), which is followed in this study.
