Index Fungorum number: IF 572240; MycoBank number: MB 572240; Facesoffungi number: FoF 17109; Figs. 1, 2

Etymologybrunnea = brown, refers to the brown pileus surface.

Holotype – GDGM 91597.

Pileus small sized, 5–12 mm diam., hemispherical to convex at first, expanding to plano-convex to depressed, dry but strongly hygrophanous, brown (6E4–8, 7E4–8); margin crenulate and slightly striate, usually paler. Lamellae arcuate, subdecurrent to decurrent, distant with 1–3 lamellulae of different lengths, thick, fragile, white (1A1) to brownish orange (6C3) or pinkish white (9A2, 10A2) to light brown (6D4–8); margins even, concolorous or slightly paler. Stipe 10–25 × 1–3 mm, cylindrical but usually tapering downwards, usually hollow when mature, smooth, light brown to brown (6D–E4–8), concolorous to the lamellae to darker near the lamellae, sometimes finely hirsute at the base. Context thin.

Basidiospores (3.0–)3.5–3.7–4.0(–4.5) × 3.0–3.2–3.5(–4.0) µm, Q = 1.0–1.15–1.33, subglobose to globose, hyaline, smooth, thin-walled. Basidia (14–)16–19.6–24(–26) × 3–4.2–6.5 µm, clavate, 4-spored; sterigmata up to 4.5 µm long. Lamellar trama regular, composed of cylindrical or inflated hyphae 6–15 µm. Stipitipellis a cutis of cylindrical, thin-walled and hyaline hyphae, usually less than 200 um long, 5–10.5 µm broad.

GenBank – GDGM 91597: PQ638426 (ITS), PQ637230 (nrLSU).

NotesCamarophyllopsis brunnea represented by GDGM 91597 from Shenzhen City is phylogenetically close to C. deceptiva, C. furfuracea and C. schulzeri (Fig. 2). However, C. deceptiva, firstly published as Hygrophorus deceptivus A.H. Sm. & Hesler, has bigger pileus (10–40 mm), longer and broader stipe measuring (2–)4–10 × 3–10 mm (Hesler and Smith 1963); C. furfuracea, originally described from New Zealand, has gray-beige, brownish to dark beige, squamulose pileus and bigger basidia measuring 25–36 × 5 µm (Horak 1973); C. schulzeri, originally described from Italy, has shorter lamellae and bigger basidiospores measuring 4.5–5 × 3.5–5 µm (Læssøe and Petersen 2019).
