Saprobic on the surface of leaves. Sexual morph: Ascomata superficial, immersed in darkened mycelium, globose to subglobose, black, ostiolate, periphysate. Wall of ascoma comprising two cell types, externally comprising pigmented, dark brown, thick-walled cells, with inner layer thinner and composed of hyaline, thin-walled cells. Hamathecium lacking paraphyses. Asci 8-spored, bitunicate, broadly ellipsoidal, obovate to saccate, pedicellate, with an ocular chamber. Ascospores cylindrical, hyaline, 5-septate, strongly constricted at each septum, smooth-walled, with a narrow mucilage sheath. Asexual morph: Undetermined.
