NotesArxiomyces was introduced by Cannon & Hawksworth (1982) to replace Phaeostoma with the type species Arxiomyces vitis, on bark in Europe (Lumbsch & Huhndorf 2010). Arxiomyces campanulatus (on Stachybotrys chartarum, fungi from cultivated soil from Honshu and A. zuberiensis, fungi on dead stems of Phragmites australis in Iraq were also introduced (Index Fungorum 2020). The genus is characterised by ovoid to ellipsoidal ascospores rounded at the apex and with a truncate base with a broad germ pore that bears a mucilaginous and collapsing appendage (Cannon & Hawksworth 1982, 1983).
